Week 14
This course has opened my eyes to changes or goals I can
make to my life. I do know I do not want
to be an entrepreneur. I enjoy my job
and enjoy having hobbies on the side that I can do at my leisure. I also know that I can rethink how I look at my
job. I focus too much on what I make and
if I will get a raise each year. In
reality, when looking at my finances earning more money isn’t necessary. I can be better with my finances, putting
money to the side for future needs. Taking
my focus off of my salary will allow me to focus more on my job and how much I
really enjoy it.
My final lecture would be to pay attention and look for
opportunities. Don’t hesitate to take
risks understanding that you can and will learn as you go. Finally, work hard. Throughout this course I have found myself paying
closer attention around me, ways to improve my situation, and ways to
learn. I have found myself willing to
now take that step forward, willing to take risks and as I have done so I was
able to do the research needed to have all the information I needed to feel
confident in the risk I was taking. In
doing this I still experienced apprehension, but felt empowered by being able
to make decisions for myself.
My advice to someone wanting to be an entrepreneur would be
to just do it. If you have the desire
you can cross off the first step in being an entrepreneur. You don’t have to know everything before you
go. Understand that you won’t be perfect
and will need to learn along the way to be successful. The times you stumble will be the times you
learn and grow the most. Persevere and
you will succeed.
My caution would be to be sure that being an entrepreneur is
what you really want. Being an entrepreneur
is not the only way to be successful.
You can use the skills and talents you could have used as an
entrepreneur in other ways that can be as satisfying to you. Look at what your intent is. Is it to be wealthy, is it to be your own
boss, or is it to do something you really enjoy doing. Looking back at the end of your life what do
you want to have accomplished and to achieve that does it involve being an
entrepreneur? Are you willing to make
the sacrifices need to be successful?
Once you determine what you want your life to be like, get going.
