Week 2

Reading "What is Your Calling in Life" and really understanding what I want that to be for me was a good exercise.  Everyone has something that is useful to society.  Do you choose to do what is easiest but not very exciting for you, or do you do put your talents to good use and enjoy your job.  Spelling out my "stepping stones and stars" was also a good activity for me to do.  I have progressed far on my stepping stones and worried that this assignment really wasn't for me but then realized that the assignment helped me to see how each step lead or opened the door to the next.  Even the steps that didn't turn out so great, I learned something useful for the future.  Learning how to be more aware of my choices and how they can affect me, even at my stage in life, is something that I look forward to learning more about in this course.

Even though we only had to skim Randy Pausch talk, I found that I enjoyed reading what he said so much that I read the entire talk.  He is an individual who made goals early, never forgetting them, and made decisions along the way that would allow him to achieve them.  His goals matched his talents, abilities, and interests, making him enthusiastic about each one of his dreams.

I do believe dreaming is important as many of what I have accomplished are things that I dreamed about.  It is interesting to look back and see how many dreams have happened, and were even better than I could have imagined.

As a child I dreamed about being a nurse and swore that someday I would be.  I never became a nurse and the desire is no longer there, and I often tell people it is because I was a mother of six children.  I bandaged many hurts, wiped up throw up, nursed kids back to health. Although I didn't achieve my dream with exactness, I feel I did achieve it.
