Week 6

To be successful in life, one must first look at themselves.  When looking at what you want to do with your life you need to look at what are you passionate about, what are you good at.  Focusing on what will make you the most money will not allow you to enjoy what you are doing.  You may become wealthy but will lack the feeling of really making a difference. Don’t settle for the first thing that comes to mind.  Don’t be afraid to experiment, trying different things. Once you know what it is you would like to do, keep on going even through the struggles. Never give up.

I would have assumed that having talent is the most important thing in being successful, but this week it was made clear that having good character comes first.  If you have talent but don’t know how to work hard, be honest, or have integrity your success will be short lived.  If you are known as a hard worker who can always be trusted and who always shows the greatest integrity, people will want to work with you.

Through the lesson this week it was interesting to stop and take into account what do I want to have accomplished at the end of my life.  Does what I care about now really line up with what I want to have accomplished at the end of my life?  When I die does it really matter how much money I made?  Will it matter how many people know of what I may have accomplished?  Or, will I care more about if I had been able to help others, or if my family knows I love them and they love me in return.  Taking a look at my life through that lens I realize that my opinion of what matters now can use some work.
