Week 8
This week’s lesson was a great motivator. Although we can learn from our past, we must
not be stuck in the past. We take what
we learn and move forward, always looking for opportunities. I loved the reminder that we need to keep moving
forward and as we do the Lord will bless us.
I know that when I have encountered something that makes me nervous and I
take a deep breath and move forward that I have felt strengthened as I did
so. God does want us to succeed, to
learn, to improve, to take on challenges and grow from them.
I also appreciated the message that you don’t have to have
everything figured out before moving ahead with an idea. If you take the chance and move forward you
can learn as you go, and might even come up with ideas you wouldn’t have had
the chance to find if you had waited until you had everything planned and in
place before beginning. This does not
mean that everything you try will always work out. You must to take your failures and learn from
them and improve upon them the next time.
Each time you learn something you add it to your knowledge bank.
I liked Elder Holland’s example of marriage when talking
about determination. His point that no
one wants a bad marriage is true. Every
marriage has its challenges and takes hard work and a determination to make it
work to be successful. His point that
things take time and being patient with yourself and others is key to progressing
in the right direction. Another example
he used was the pioneers. They definitely
had struggles and even as they went through trials, they kept on going.
This lesson encourages me to keep on going and to never give
up. Doing so, I will be blessed through
my efforts.
