Week 9

As I went through the readings and videos from this week's assignments I found myself looking within.  I have found myself wondering why I have been given the opportunities that I have been given, and at times worry that my "time" is going to be up sometime.  The readings made me realize that some of my characteristics or talents that I have been blessed with have made it so people do turn to me when they want something done, which in turn has made me someone people seek out to hire.

Reading about Garcia I do see myself reacting in a similar way.  Whenever I am approached I don't ask how they want it accomplished.  I jump right in and  make sure to follow all the way through, and usually do it well and in a timely manner.  The question for me is would I do the same on something seemingly insurmountable.  Great lesson to realize that even something seems like a task to great to accomplish, remembering that I can figure it out as I go along, that I may fail at times, but there are great lessons to be learned, great characteristics to gain, and great benefits to be had.

I do like the way a great leader was represented.  In "Achieving Higher Ground" it was mentioned that a good leader will take others to higher ground.  Too many times I have seen a "leader" more concerned about how they look or are perceived than they were about the wellbeing or success of the organization.  I have also seen a common point throughout this class.  It is important to always be learning.  I would imagine a leader who thinks they know it all, would not be so successful or stuck and unable to progress or improve.  I do feel the best leaders I have ever interacted with were individuals who understood their shortcomings, welcomed/gathered people around them that could fill in areas they lacked.  That does take humility and strength.
